Closing day with Kenny Ortega and Christopher McDonald

The Los Angeles masterclasses have come to an end.

As our students are safely flying back home, we wanted to take a moment to talk about what a beautiful closing day HOA had on Sunday.

It was a once in a lifetime experience that we all lived. The legendary Kenny Ortega (This is it, High School Musical) came to class to work with the students. Ortega shared one of the most inspiring story from working with Gene Kelly to having young Leonardo DiCaprio audition for his film when he was only 19 years old. He had us all in tears with his tribute to the king of pop Micheal Jackson and gave us the most beautiful advice he had gotten from the legend, a quote that will stay with us for a very long time ”Don’t ever let fear into the room, it gets in the way of productivity” – MJ.  The energy that M. Ortega radiates is truly inspiring and had us all leave class with a fire motivation bigger than ever.

We also had the honour to have Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore, Grease 2, Requiem for a Dream) with us in class for the entire day. Sharing his notes and thoughts on all of our scenes. McDonald made sure to leave us on a very inspirational note with a very heartfelt speech.

We can not express the gratitude we all have toward master coach Bernard Hiller for everything he has taught us and of course for all of his dance moves…
